FAN photo competition – get your camera’s out!
Spring has returned! The FAN tulip beds in downtown Nijmegen will bloom beautifully again. Have you spotted them last year already?
The friendship between Albany and Nijmegen started because this American city offered help to Nijmegen with the reconstruction after the Second World War. As a thank you Queen Wilhelmina sent 2000 orange tulip bulbs, a gesture that in Albany grew into their annual Tulip Festival. Albany and Nijmegen became ‘sister cities’. In honor of this historical friendship the FAN foundation took the initiative to plant orange tulips in the center of Nijmegen. Many thanks go to the municipality of Nijmegen for planting the bulbs on three special locations.
In the past weeks we have experienced how the value of friendship and offering help to others in need returns time and time again. It is important to celebrate symbols of friendship and so we use the bloom of the orange tulip, as a symbol of our trans-Atlantic friendship. FAN gives a big shout out to send your most beautiful photo of the orange tulip beds in Nijmegen. Grab your camera and admire them at the roundabout on the Waalkade-Lage Markt, in the median strip of the Tunnelweg and at the Quack monument!
Send your most FAN-tastic photo (1) latest on May 4th 12:00 to: secretariaat@stichtingfan.nl for the chance to win a fun prize. The winner will be announced soon afterwards. Tip: the tulips bloom at their best middle/at the end of April!
